Atomic absorption spectrophotometer Atom FC by SILab

Kortikov V.E.

Abstract

Atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) is an instrumental method for quantitative analysis of the elemental composition of substances, which has become widespread due to its high selectivity and efficiency. The main advantage of AAS is that the sample can be analyzed with minimum preliminary sample preparation and a large number of elements in a wide range of concentrations can be determined. All this makes AAS convenient to use and indispensable in the study of various samples – from high-purity solutions to complex matrices, such as ores, alloys, natural and waste water, soils and feed, and also effective for poorly soluble objects, such as slags, ceramics.

Comparative analysis of light sources for spectrophotometers

Kopeichenko M.A.

Abstract

Spectrophotometry is an analysis method that is widely used in chemistry, biology, medicine and many other fields of science and technology. One of the key elements of a spectrophotometer is a light source. Today, two types of radiation sources are most often used: xenon lamps and halogen lamps paired with deuterium lamps. The article provides a comparative analysis of these types of lamps in order to identify the advantages and disadvantages of their use in spectrophotometry.

A broad view of the security environment

Gotovtseva J.V.

Abstract

Working in a laboratory is always associated with risk. Some chemical reagents are toxic. Fumes harmful to workers may be released during the reaction. Fume hoods are installed in laboratories to minimize possible danger. Most of works is carried out in fume hoods, so you need to choose the right model for specific tasks. Features of classic, specialized, compact fume hoods and muffle furnaces are listed.

Methods for monitoring the chemical stability of insulating liquids

Lyutikova M.N., Ridel A.V., Garifullin M.S., Slobodina Y.N.

Abstract

This article proposes a method for optimizing the properties of transformer oil (aromatic, paraffin, naphthenic) to stabilize the sedimentation process by mixing the oil with a synthetic ester in a certain ratio. To control changes in the properties of the oil and mixtures, accelerated aging was carried out under conditions close to real ones during the operation of insulating liquid in high-voltage transformers. During the aging process, the chemical stability of the oil, ester liquid, and their mixtures was assessed using optical methods. The stability of insulating liquids was monitored using indicators such as optical turbidity, the number of mechanical particles by fraction, contamination index and the relative content of decomposition products dissolved in liquids. It is shown that these indicators can serve as effective indicators of the process of colloid and sedimentation in a liquid dielectric at the initial stage and can be used for the purpose of preventive diagnostics of the insulation of high-voltage equipment.

Availability of reference materials for the analysis of milk and dairy products

Kremleva O.N., Zyryanova I.N., Sobina E.P.

Abstract

An analytical review of metrological support for reference materials of measurement methods for safety indicators and identification of milk and dairy products is presented. The technical regulation of the Customs Union On safety of milk and dairy products (TR CU 033/2013) has been in force in the territory of the Eurasian Economic Community for 10 years. The document establishes an extensive list of controlled indicators and provides a list of measurement methods.

The review covers 613 standardized measurement methods included in the List of standards containing rules and methods of research (testing) and measurements, including rules for selecting samples necessary for the application and implementation of technical regulation requirements.

The article is addressed to a wide range of developers, producers and importers of metrological support instruments and may influence the further improvement of instruments and methods for ensuring the quality of milk and dairy products.

History of the development of chromatography in Yoshkar-Ola. For the 30th anniversary of the Meta-Chrom company

Astakhov A.V.

Abstract

In recent years, radical changes have occurred in many areas of our lives. Domestic analytical instrumentation is no exception. And if earlier most testing laboratories were equipped with imported equipment, now more and more attention is paid to the products of domestic manufacturers. In our country, there are companies that have long and successfully worked in the Russian market and beyond. RPC Meta-Chrom, a manufacturer of instruments for gas chromatography and other testing equipment, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary next year, enjoys well-deserved authority among specialists. Like any successful enterprise with a rich history, the main value is people, scientists and design engineers whose ideas are implemented in modern production.
