On the question of teaching Russian and foreign literature of the 18th century in higher education

Buranok O., Glukhov G.

摘要

The article examines the importance and approaches to the study of Russian and foreign literature of the XVIII century in the system of university philological education. This period is characterized as a key stage in the transition from the traditional classical culture, founded by ancient writers, to the ideas of Enlightenment, which had revolutionary transformations in the further development of both European and Russian culture. Special attention is paid to the unique synthesis of scientific approach and literary creativity in Western European culture, represented in the works of prominent figures of the era. During this period, new literary genres were formed, combining science and art: novels, treatises, philosophical novels, poetic works with deep scientific overtones. In Russia of the XVIII century, there was a rapid development of literature. Progress became possible thanks to the radical transformations of Peter the Great – his economic, political and cultural reforms that transformed patriarchal tsarist Russia into the Russian Empire. Russian Russian literature considers the contribution of Peter the Great's associates to the formation of the Russian literary language and the formation of the concept of national literature, which laid the foundation for the «golden age» of Russian literature of the 19th century. The article highlights modern methods of teaching literature of the XVIII century in universities, aimed at developing students' skills in analyzing the historical and cultural context and understanding when comparing works of interrelation between Russian and foreign literature. Special attention is paid to the adaptation of pedagogical technologies to modern digital learning formats.

Some aspects of the interim assessment in the mathematics discipline with a point-rating system of assessment

Gumennikova Y., Kuznetsov V., Chernitsyna R.

摘要

Currently, many Russian universities use a point-rating system to assess individual student achievements, replacing the traditional one and improving the quality of education. Despite the many studies examining the design and implementation of point-rating systems, the authors of this paper see the need to pay special attention to the methodology of midterm assessment, because, despite the fact that only 40 points out of 100 are allocated for it, the importance of final assessment in the discipline cannot be underestimated. The article describes the basic principles of forming examination tickets for midterm assessment in mathematics in the second semester at a technical university. The first part of the ticket tasks requires a short written answer and allows you to check your knowledge of the basic concepts of the discipline. In the main part of the ticket, the student is asked to solve several typical problems on the material covered in the semester. The third part tests the student's readiness to apply the acquired knowledge of mathematics to solve specific problematic tasks related to his future professional activities. The proposed version of semester control allows for dynamic monitoring of the quality of the educational process, promotes objectivity of assessment and the acquisition of solid basic knowledge in mathematics.

To the problem of teaching the basics of actual sentence division in translation practice classes

Zhuravlev A.

摘要

The article deals with the actual division of the sentence as one of the most essential aspects of a text in terms of its coherence. This topic assumes even more importance in case of translation between languages with different models of thematic-rhematic articulation of sentences (for example from English into Russian). Correct reproduction of the actual division in the target language with consideration of its rules and standards is one of the most characteristic signs of the quality translation. The skill to spot the rheme in a sentence of the original text is as essential as knowing what lexical-grammatical transformation is to be applied in each particular case. This statement is proved by numerous mistakes of the same kind found in Russian translation. The point is that in some cases a translator for some reason preserves the original thematic-rhematic structure of a sentence when translating it from English into Russian, instead of adapting it to the rules and standards of Russian. As a result, such translation looks unnatural which has the negative effect on the perception of a text as a whole.

Translation analysis of the text as a factor that provides the adequate translation of its title

Zhuravlev A.

摘要

The article deals with the role of a title as an integral part of a literary work. The study points out that such titles (unlike titles of texts belonging to other genres) perform an additional function as they actualize the author’s intention. Consequently, a particular approach is needed to translate a literary work title properly – the approach aimed to uncover the connection between the title and the plot of a literary work. This approach involves the pre-translation analysis of a literary work text, i.e., the translator must read the text before translating it in order to determine both the author’s intention and the ways this intention is expressed – specifically in the tile. The article also points out that some translators neglect this part of the process which has negative effect on the quality of the final translation. The conclusion is that the classes in theoretical and practical translation should put more emphasis on the importance of the pre-translation analysis of a literary work text.

To the question of the effectiveness of the work of the mathematical circle in a higher educational institution

Lavrus O., Chernitsyna R.

摘要

The proposed article discusses the issue of attracting students of higher educational institutions from the very first courses of study to a deeper study of subjects and disciplines necessary for further education in the development of a future profession. In this regard, it is proposed to expand the work of student scientific circles using the example of the scientific mathematical circle established at the Department of Higher Mathematics at the Volga State University of Railway Transport. It is not only about the work in this period, but mainly focuses on the expansion and deepening of this area. Since mathematics is a subject studied in all specialties, it would be good to immediately focus students on the sections of mathematics that are necessary to solve practical problems in this particular specialty. Therefore, preference is given to expanding the activities of the circles. We need two clubs in the field of economics and technical specialties at once. It is also proposed to create a circle for senior students.

On the question of the origins of B.L. Pasternak's novel «Doctor Zhivago» (on the poet's relationships with the Avdeev family in Chistopol)

Valeev N.

摘要

The article discusses the life and work of the future Nobel Prize laureate in literature Boris Leonidovich Pasternak, who first found himself in Chistopol face to face with deep reality, with real edaphic Russia, who wanted to stay here forever. Pasternak's friendship with the Avdeevs, the wonderful family of Soviet intellectuals, served as the basis for creating the image of the protagonist of the "Doctor Zhivago" novel - Yuri Zhivago, and had a huge impact on the fate and work of the poet. The origins of the work should also be seen in the constant benevolent communication of B.L. Pasternak with his landlord V.A. Vavilov - a participant in the Civil War and the partisan movement: many episodes from his narratives formed the basis of the famous novel, the work on which Pasternak began in Chistopol in March 1942. This article examines the possible origins of Boris Pasternak's "Doctor Zhivago" novel, involving archival and memoir documents, and scientific works. The purpose of the article is to reveal Pasternak's friendly relationship with the family of zemskiy doctor Dmitry Dmitrievich Avdeev, to show the role of the Avdeevs in dialogue with cultural, art, and literary figures evacuated to the city on the Kama, especially in dialogue and friendship with B.L. Pasternak.

The power of the earth in the fairy tales and essays of N.K. Roerich: to the problem of the entelechy of culture

Dudareva M., Cherkashina E.

摘要

The research focuses on the problem of the entelechy of culture in the early 20th century, which is resolved using the example of the work of the artist, philosopher and writer N.K. Roerich, who traveled extensively across Russia and studied ancient Russian culture and architecture. The authors of the article turn to the literary heritage of the thinker, his fairy tales, which have been little studied, but have great cultural and philosophical potential. The material for the article is the writer's early and late fairy tales. In his fairy tales, N.K. Roerich showed the connection between times and peoples, outlining the problem of spiritual continuity that must be preserved for the sake of Russia's future. In this context, the relevance of the article, aimed at studying the processes of the entelechy of artistic culture, is formed. Thus, the object of scientific work is the entelechy of artistic culture. The authors of the work develop the concept of "entelechy" in philological and cultural aspects. The methodology of the research is reduced to a holistic hermeneutic analysis of the writer's fairy tales using philosophical and art criticism analysis. The results of the research may be of interest to philologists and cultural scientists who consider literature in the space of great time and dialogue of cultures, and may be used in teaching the courses "History of Russian Literature", "History of Russian Art".

Nomination of Russian folk instruments in light of Sanskrit etymology

Denisov D.

摘要

Discussing the Sanskrit etymology of Russian folk instrument designations fills a gap in the domestic etymological tradition, whose representatives are reluctant to involve data from Indian languages in the analysis. The subject of the study is the conditions under which the etymological transitions could take place. The analysis takes into account various word-formation models. The author regards some factors influencing the shift in the morphemic composition of Sanskrit words. These are adding Russian suffixes, the transfer of articulation of the final i of Sanskrit verbal endings to the zone of the thematic vowel, the elision of individual sounds and syllables in the root, as well as in prefixes, and the addition of individual sounds. The author analyzes the Russian nouns скоморох, пляска, the semantic group including the lexemes баять, байка, баян, балакать, балалайка, волынка. He suggests the Sanskrit etymology of the names of Russian folk instruments – скрипка, домра, гусли, свирель, дудука, рожок, колокол and clarifies the etymology of the terms тон и лад, as well as individual verbs петь, звенеть/звонить, гласить/голосить. Based on the results of the research, the author concludes that in most of the cases considered, it is the Sanskrit etymology that takes place. Some of the proposed etymologies can be considered as a hypothesis.

Images of doctors in the Kaliningrad and Kuibyshev periods of V.P. Denisov's work: to the question of the structure of the artistic cycle

Denisov D., Zhuravlev M., Medvedeva N.

摘要

This study is devoted to the images of medical workers in the paintings of the Samara artist V.P. Denisov (1935–2021). This theme was present in the Kaliningrad period of his work in the second half of the 1960s and in the Kuibyshev period of the early 1980s. During the Kaliningrad period, the artist painted portrait sketches of orderlies, nurses and ambulance doctors, and also one portrait of a military surgeon was painted. During the Kuibyshev period, the artist painted portraits of doctors, mainly surgeons of the Kuibyshev Clinical Hospital. The hypothesis of the study is that in both cases there are completed pictorial cycles. The research materials are a comparable number of works - seven or eight in both the Kaliningrad and Kuibyshev periods. The authors apply an ontological approach, which allows them to determine the structure of the cycle, the functions of individual stages, and the functions of the model levels. The authors conclude that creative activity, including artistic creativity, is realized in a special structured ontological space. Each level of this model has its own ontology, its own way of being, certain characters, images, and plots. In relation to these levels, a strict symmetry is established in the content of the stages within the cycle.

The imperatives of heritage in a changing culture, or when the past becomes contemporary

Ionesov V.

摘要

The world of things in the information society breaks the established boundaries of its everyday existence and perception, exposing itself in a variety of forms, interconnections and articulations of bodily transformations. This process allows us to see behind the usual material background of everyday artifacts the endless social drama in the battle of human being for the acculturation and domestication of nature. A thing as an object of culture appears in a variety of guises – as a character, event, sign, symbol and narrative, but each time joining in the conversation about the urgent and life-and-death in the incessant dialogue of human being with his creation. Despite the seeming material autonomy, burden and inviolability of the objective world – things are not at all indifferent to the experiences, preferences and values of individual. In one case, they bind their creator to themselves or even enslave him, imprisoning a person in the walls built around him, in another – they protect and save from the onslaught of external forces, providing people with the necessary means to tame the elements, arrange the world and promote their aspirations, ambitions and plans. In this article, the objective world of culture is considered through its coupling with creative practices and innovations decisions. Cultural artifacts objectively mark the social world, which allows us to consider them as a kind of warning signs of distinction and memorable marks. Things attract people, just as people attract them to themselves in the implementation of their needs and plans. Things acquire their communicative properties in a cultural context that sets and forms the social significance of an artifact, making it an economically useful, aesthetically attractive and recognizable object. Creativity of action turns a thing into an accomplice and designer of a new cultural reality, which the author tries to show in her article.

«Friends and strangers» in Russian cinema: traditions and transformations

Orishchenko S.

摘要

The article attempts to comprehend the traveled path of Russian cinema from the point of view of tradition and innovation, as well as highlight the key themes of Russian, Soviet and modern cinema, dividing the period under review (1922-2022) into four conditional blocks. Cinema, as one of the youngest forms of art, depends on the socio-cultural context and key historical events, on national traditions and the moral code of the people, on cultural values and the desire to know oneself and the world around, without contrasting «oneself» with «others» and «strangers». Cultural studies helps to divide films by the most frequently recurring themes and to see their relationship with modern times. The purpose of the study is to show the thematic unity in Russian cinema and to name the most famous works of directors, to see its transformation over time, and also to emphasize the continuity between film directors of different generations by naming their names and works. The concept of «friends and strangers» in cinema art belongs to the present, past and future tense. He is initially present in every film text, while «friends» and «strangers» try to unite in groups they understand for creation, survival, understanding, movement, development, attracting «others» into their «camp». The interaction of the «past» and the «present» makes it possible to make a forecast about the successful outcome of the «future» in Russian cinema.
