Abstract
The article analyzes state of development in engineering industry in Russia and in Krasnoyarsk region. Role of the industry in the formation of innovative economy is determined. Analysis of engineering problems in modern conditions is given. The need for industry modernization, as a condition of transition of the economy to an innovative way of development, is determined in the article
