MILITARY EPIDEMIOLOGY: CURRENT STATE AND DEVELOPMENT PROSPECTS

The article describes the main stages of the development of military epidemiology in the modern system of antiepidemic protection of troops, provides historical aspects of the evolution of forces and means of anti-epidemic protection of personnel. The current state and main directions of the develop-ment of military epidemiology as a science are determined. The problematic issues are outlined and the priority tasks of improving the system of antiepidemic defense of the troops are outlined. In order to improve the system of antiepidemic protection of troops, it is necessary: to focus on ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological well-being of problematic military units and garrisons; ensure the objectification and automation of epidemiological surveillance based on the introduction of modern equipment and laboratory techniques, as well as modern computer technologies; to study the issue of expanding the spectrum of infections within the framework of the Calendar of preventive vaccinations according to epidemic indications to the military personnel of the Armed Forces of Russia (for example, against acute intestinal infections, adenovirus infection, etc.); carry out the development and implementation of new technical means of prevention and control of infectious diseases, as well as emergency and immunoprophylaxis; improve the means and methods of biological defense of troops; develop and update the regulatory framework. The functioning of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in modern conditions poses new challenges for military epidemiologists, the solution of which should bring military epidemiology, as well as an antiepidemic support system for the army and navy, to a qualitatively new level of development.
