Genetic identification of the yeast Saccharomyces kudriavzevii from European population

Naumov G.I.

Abstract

Using genetic hybridization analysis we showed for the first time that Portuguese isolates belong to the biological species Saccharomyces kudriavzevii Naumov et al. (2000). Earlierthis species was described on Japanese isolates. Divergence of Portuguese and Japanese S. kudriavzevii populations, as well as different S. cerevisiae populations, on molecular galactose markers is discussed.

«Ageingfeatures» analysis of IGF-1 and PGC-1 genes polymorphism

Potulova S.V., Glotov O.S., Baranov V.S.

Abstract

Our goal was to investigate whether a polymorphism in IGF-1 gene (wild-type, 192 base pairs) and in the PGC-1 gene (Gly482Ser polymorphism) influence life expectancy. Different distribution of IGF-1 (CA repeats) gene polymorphism was shown. Increasing of 20/- genotype in elderly people compared with newborn group (26,7 and 44,1 %, accordantly, ϰ2 = 8,57, p = 0,0034) and decreasing of 19/19 genotype (51 and 27,9%, accordantly, ϰ2 = 14,815, p = 0.0001) were founded. Furthermore, it was shown different distribution of IGF-1 (CA repeats) gene polymorphism in man and woman. It was detected increasing of 19/20 genotype in newborn man compared with newborn woman (23,2 and 11,3%, accordantly), and significantly increasing of 19/20 genotype in elderly man compared with elderly woman (44,4 and 21,1%, accordantly, ϰ2 = 5,009, p = 0,025). A possible role of IGF-1 gene CA-polymorphism in ageing that is suggested. The prevalent Gly482Ser polymorphism of the PGC-1 gene has not been shown to be associated with life expectancy. It was detected increasing of Gly/Gly genotype in elderly woman compared with elderly man (51,0 и 27,3%, accordantly, ϰ2 = 4,063, p = 0,0438). The joint contribution of IGF-1 gene and PGC-1 gene is involved in ageing between groups of newborn and elderly people (20%, 41,8%, accordantly, ϰ2 = 4,858, p = 0,0275).

The analysis of association of the minisatellite UPS29 with Parkinson's disease

Suchkova I.O., Shubina D.M., Yakimovsky A.F., Borisova E.V., Eliseeva N.G., Sasina L.K., Baranova T.V., Baranov V.S., Patkin E.L.

Abstract

The aim of this work was to identify new genetic markers associated with different forms of Parkinson's disease. A frequency of occurrence of different allele variants of minisatellite UPS29 localized in intron of centaurin p5 gene (CENTB5) was evaluated for patients with this pathology. The increase of frequency of UPS29 short alleles was observed for Parkinson's disease patients. This value depended on patient sex and age of pathology debut. Statistically significant difference with control was found only for females with early (30-50 years old) and late (> 60 years old) onset of Parkinson's disease. We suppose that UPS29 might be used as new genetic markers forearly (presymptomatic) diagnostics of some forms of Parkinson's disease.

Cytogenetic variability of seed progeny from trees of weeping birch (Betula pendula Roth), growingin different ecological conditions

Artyukhov V.G., Kalaev V.N., Karpova S.S.

Abstract

The study of cytogenetic characteristics of weeping birch (Betula pendula Roth) seed progeny was carried out on anthropogenically polluted territories of Voronezh city, and on ecologically «clean» territory. Four groups of seedlings on each territory were revealed. They are «mutable», «low-mutable» and two intermediate groups. The description of cytogenetic characteristics of these groups was made. The results of the study may be used for recommendation on selection of maternal trees producing seeds resistant to unfavorable conditions of the environment.

Mutational processes in animals preadapted to oxidizing stress

Gus'kov E.P., Mashkina E.V., Belichenko N.I., Varduni T.V., Gus'kov G.E., Shkurat T.P., Volosovcova G.I., Pokudina I.O.

Abstract

Article is devoted to a problem of metabolic systems preadaptation an organism as a result of influence oxidizing stress, induced hyperbaric oxygenation (0,2 MPa), on newborn rats, and also an estimation of a degree and duration of preservation of a metabolic trace after that influences. Opportunities of increase stability animals to influence stress modes of oxidizing stress, induced hyperbaric oxygenation (0,5 MPa) after their preadaptation during the newborn period are considered. Mutational processes in different periods after preadaptation are investigated; changes of norm reaction to oxidizing stress in the posterity received from reciprocal crossings of preadapted rats are estimated.
