Diagnostic value of calculation methods for determining left ventricular hypertrophy when examining military personnel with essential hypertension

Abstract
It was shown that when calculating the mass of the left ventricular myocardium, referred to the body surface area, with reference values of more than 95 g/m2 for women and more than 115 g/m2 for men in patients with obesity (especially with the second degree and higher), not fully reveals the prevalence of left ventricular hypertrophy in this category of persons. In the presence of obesity, it is necessary to use a formula indexed to height raised to the power of 2.7 with reference values> 50 g/m2.7 for men and >47 g/m2.7 for women, according to the Recommendations on arterial hypertension in adults of the Russian Cardiological Society, approved by the Ministry of Health of Russia in 2020. Taking into account the role of left ventricular hypertrophy in identifying the stage of hypertension, it is proposed to introduce its threshold values into the draft of the new «Regulations on military medical expertise».
