Abstract
In the article-report, the author collected information about polymastia available in the literature and supplemented them with his own observation of one case of 5 additional glands on the chest. According to the statistics he cited, polymastia in various forms is a far from uncommon phenomenon: from 6 to 14% of the examined men (recruits) - according to v. Bardeleben'y and supposedly less in women. When distributing cases of polymastia into groups according to the number of additional glands and according to their location, it can be seen that the smaller the group, the more its constituent cases deviate from the normal number of glands and the further their position is from the usual one (for example, on the back, on the thigh , in the inguinal fold).

Въ статьѣ-докладѣ авторъ собралъ имѣющіяся въ литературѣ свѣдѣнія о полимастіи и дополнилъ ихъ собственнымъ наблюденіемъ одного случая 5 добавочныхъ железъ на груди. По приведенной имъ статистикѣ полимастія въ разныхъ видахъ явленіе далеко нерѣдкое: отъ 6 до 14% осмотрѣнныхъ мущинъ (новобранцевъ)—по ѵ. Bardeleben’y и будто-бы менѣе у женщинъ. При распредѣленіи случаевъ полимастіи на группы по числу добавочныхъ железъ и по мѣсто-положенію ихъ можно видѣть, что тѣмъ малочисленнѣе группа, чѣмъ болѣе составляющіе ее случаи уклоняются отъ нормальнаго числа железъ и чѣмъ далѣе ихъ мѣсто положеніе отъ обычнаго (напр. на спинѣ, на бедрѣ, въ паховой складкѣ). По числу добавочныхъ железъ описываемый авторомъ случай занимаетъ въ литературѣ третье мѣсто (ранѣе описаны по 1 случаю 6 и 8 добавочныхъ железъ). Сопоставляя разнообразныя мнѣнія о происхожденіи полимастіи, авторъ, повидимому, склоняется къ мнѣнію Вирхова и др., объясняющихъ одни случаи атавизмомъ, а другіе—развитіемъ молочныхъ железъ изъ разросшихся сальныхъ.
