Abstract

To the limited literature on this disease, the author adds a description of a case of this disease that he observed in the Odessa Jewish Hospital. The etiology of this suffering, according to the author, should be reduced to the action of the toxins of typhoid infection on the nervous system. In organic and mineral poisons, like alcohol and lead, we have examples of their toxic effect on the peripheral nervous system. The same effect of poisons can be in infectious diseases, in particular, in typhoid. Depending on the strength of the intoxication, neuritis can be temporary, become permanent, and even lead to the loss of the ability of the nerve fiber to undergo regeneration.

Къ немногочисленной литературѣ даннаго заболѣванія авторъ присоединяетъ описаніе случая даннаго заболѣванія, наблюдавшагося имъ въ Одесской еврейской больницѣ. Этіологія этого страданія, по мнѣнію автора, должна сводиться къ дѣйствію токсиновъ брюшно-тифозной инфекціи на нервную систему. Вь органическихъ и минеральныхъ ядахъ, какъ алкоголь и свинецъ, мы имѣемъ примѣры токсическаго ихъ дѣйствія именно на периферическую нервную систему. Такое же дѣйствіе ядовъ можетъ быть и при инфекціонныхъ болѣзняхъ, въ частности и при тифѣ. Въ зависимости отъ силы интоксикаціи, невриты могутъ быть временными, сдѣлаться постоянными и даже повести за собою потерю способности нервнаго волокна подвергаться регенераціи.
