Abstract
Attention selectivity impairment is an important cognitive symptom of schizophrenia, but there is a lack of Russian language adapted methods for objective and accurate assessment of these impairments. The aim of the study: translation into Russian, adaptation and validation of the Inquisit Continuous Performance Test - Identical Pairs (CPT-IP), implemented on the ‘Inquisit’ software platform.
Materials and Methods. Sixty-seven people were examined in 2025, of whom 34 formed the ‘Mentally Healthy’ sample (15 men and 19 women, mean age 22.5 [20.0; 43.3] years) and 33 formed the ‘Schizophrenia Patients’ sample (13 men and 20 women, mean age 37.2 [25.2; 48.5] years). The authors translated the original CPT-IP English-language script, which was further validated by the authors of the methodology and posted in the Iquisit library. For each subject from the two samples, the Russian-language CPT-IP script, the classical methods ‘Corrective Test’, ‘Finding Numbers’ and ‘Memorising 10 Words’, as well as the CPT-IP retest were administered.
Results. Cronbach's alpha for both samples was 0.73, which characterises sufficient internal consistency of the method. A statistically significant negative correlation was found between the DPrime in the CPT-IP and the number of errors in the ‘Corrective test’ in both samples, which confirms the convergent validity of the CPT-IP for assessing attention selectivity function. Discriminant validity is demonstrated by the absence of significant correlations between CPT-IP scores and the results of the ‘Memorizing 10 words’ test in both samples. Test-retest stability reaches ‘notable’ and ‘high’ levels on the Cheddock scale.
Conclusion. The CPT-IP method adapted into a Russian language has sufficient internal consistency, convergent and discriminant validity, and test-retest stability to recommend its use in studies of cognitive impairment in schizophrenia patients.
