The purpose of the journal PHOTONICS RUSSIA is to provide a connect between scientists, manufacturers and users of equipment and technologies of various disciplines who share a common interest in optical and photonics systems and technologies, as well as to promote the development of scientific mentation among young scientists.

The journal PHOTONICS RUSSIA exhaustively covers issues associated with industrial photonics, phovoltaics, optical materials and photonic technologies components. “PHOTONICS-2025”: Four Short Stories About the Future
Abstract
The 19th International Exhibition of Laser, Optical and Optoelectronic Technology “Photonics. The World of Lasers and Optics-2025”, the largest industry event where modern achievements in the field of photonics, optics and laser technologies were presented, was accompanied by a large–scale business program. As part of the XIII Congress of the Photonics Technology Platform held at the exhibition on April 03, 2025, the scientific and production conference “Optoelectronic Systems and Components” was held, dedicated to the development of key areas of optoelectronics and photonics in the Russian Federation, the creation of import-substituting technologies, as well as the consideration of priority problematic issues and the development of proposals for their prompt solution. In January 2025, the Advanced Research Foundation, together with the SPA JSC “Orion”, created the Target Search Laboratory (TSL) “Technologies of Optoelectronics and Photonics”.

Evaluation of Residual Deformations of a Welded Joint Generated by Various Welding Methods
Abstract
This paper presents the comparison results of laser and arc welding methods. The modes for laser welding, hybrid laser-arc welding and laser welding with filler wire for the St3 plates with the thickness of 10 mm were developed. Three test joints were welded by each welding method using the developed modes. The metallographic studies were conducted demonstrating stable formation of the welded joint and absence of internal defects. The residual deformations were assessed for the following types of welding: laser welding, hybrid laser-arc welding, laser welding with filler wire, single-sided and double-sided manual arc welding, single-sided and double-sided mechanized welding in the active gases and mixtures. The test samples for each welding type were analyzed in terms of the level of residual deformations after welding by comparing geometric dimensions and using the 3D scanning procedure. A comparative technical and economic analysis of welding methods was performed.



Changes in the Polycrystalline Alloy Microstructure Under Impact Action of Short Laser Pulses
Abstract
A review of publications devoted to the application of pulsed laser radiation in the field of technologies has been performed. The advantages of laser shock peening of the processed product surfaces have been considered. The developmental model of point defects and dislocations under the shock-wave load of polycrystalline materials has been proposed. The high-quality compliance between the calculated dislocation density and experimental results related to the laser shock peening of AMg6 samples has been obtained.

Inner Focusing Lens
Abstract
The article describes the design of inner focusing lenses. Lenses can be used in surveillance devices, night vision devices, for application in machine vision systems, in photography and other fields. Wide-angle lens with a focal length of 16 mm and an aperture of F / 1.8, fast lens with a focal length of 26 mm and an aperture of F / 1.2, lens with a focal length of 50 mm and an aperture of F / 1.4, lens with a focal length of 100 mm and an aperture of F / 2.8, telephoto lens with a focal length of 200 mm and an aperture of F / 4, as well as for comparison a lens with a variable focal length of 10–300 mm and an aperture of F / 1.6–4.5.

Single Photon Sources. Review Part 4
Abstract
This review discusses various development methods for the single-photon sources (SPS).Earlier, the first part of the review (Photonics Russia. 2024; 18(5): 376–396) has discussed the requirements for single-photon sources and their characteristic criteria, and described the single-photon sources based on the single ions and single atoms. The second part of the review (Photonics Russia. 2024; 18(8): 610–620) has considered the SPSs based on the quantum dots and on the color centers in crystals. The third part (Photonics Russia. 2025; 19(1): 28–38) has considered the single-photon sources based on the carbon nanotubes and defects in them (defect engineering in nanotubes), on the nanocrystals and layered nanocrystals. The final section examines the single-photon sources on the collective states in the ensemble systems, on the single molecules and metal ions in a polymer matrix, as well as the sources on nonlinear crystals.
