Guaranteed Loans of Far Eastern Joint-Stock Companies in the 1920s–30s

Abstract

The purpose of the study. The article examines the use of stock market instruments by the Soviet government for the development of certain industries during the period of accelerated industrialization. Among the Soviet securities issued in the 1920s and 1930s, corporate securities occupy an important place. The article analyzes the experience of issuing and selling loans of Far Eastern companies intended for placement on the foreign market. The source base was documents stored in the Russian State Archive of Economics. These documents are devoted to the history of issuing two loans of the Ussuri Railway and two loans of the Joint-Stock Kamchatka Company. Conclusions. The bond loans of the Ussuri Railway and the Kamchatka Joint Stock Company played an important role in the attempt to break the financial and economic blockade of the USSR. In the conditions of a difficult foreign policy situation in the Far East, the bonds of these loans have been used for a long time in economic life.
