Abstract

Chest pain is one of the most common causes of medical care utilization. The management of chest pain is a challenging task for general practitioner given the need in making a rapid assessment and responsible decision concerning immediate hospitalization of those under the risk of sudden death. We presented in the article the current approaches to differential diagnosis of the most frequent urgent chest pain conditions.

270 specialists of child and adult psychiatry were examined during postgraduate study. The specialists empathy structure and empathy dynamic were considered. Main empathic channels and gender differences of empathy were described. The correction changes in specialists' empathy and in empathy channels during study were shown.

Abstract

For early diagnosis of disseminated lung diseases (DLD) is very important to detect a restrictive ventilation disorders in the primary examination of the patient in the offices of general practitioners or outpatient departments. The article discusses the role of spirometry in screening of DLD, compares the effectiveness of existing diagnostic algorithm of restrictive ventilation disorders using predicted values and the low limit of normal. It is shown that the best results are achieved with predicted values, but even in this case, the spirometry parameters of half of the DLD patients remain normal.

DIFFUSE NONE TOXIC GOITER IN PATIENTS FROM NORTH REGION OF SAUDI ARABIA

Abstract

The results of treatment of 86 patients - the indigenous inhabitants of the northern region of Saudi Arabia with newly diagnosed diffuse nontoxic goiter. Peculiarities of diagnostics, treatment and therapy of diffuse toxic goiter in this ethnic group were studied. We revealed the prevalence of goiter grade II and III. Treatment, that was most effective in reducing the volume of the thyroid, was a combination of potassium iodide (150-200 mg daily) and L-thyroxine in individually selected dose. This treatment resulted in a reduction in the size of 34% of goiter. Potassium iodide monotherapy did not result in a statistically significant reduction in the volume of the thyroid gland.
