THE INFLUENCE OF ANXIETY, STRESS AND PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF ALCOHOL ABUSE

Abstract

With the aim of determining connection between anxiety disorders, stresses and psychological traumas we studied 135.in 54 of them (40%) there were found anxiety and depressive syndromes, in 31 patients (23%) - lifetime prevalence of anxiety disorders, where there was high prevalence of panic attacks among alcoholics (77%), in most cases having secondary nature (71%). Contrary to the primary hypothesis alcoholism improved development and decrease the risk of relapse. Stress factors and traumatic events that predict development of abuse and dependence were observed.
