TOXICO-ALLERGIC CONJUNCTIVITIS IN PATIENTS WITH PRIMARY GLAUCOMA AGAINST THE BACKGROUND OF ANTIHYPERTENSIVE TREATMENT

Yani E.V., Seliverstova K.E.

Abstract

Glaucoma is a leading cause of visual impairment and blindness worldwide. Despite the success of laser and surgical therapies, administration of medications in the form of eye drops remains the standard approach to the therapy of glaucoma. The study was aimed to the evaluation of the impact of modern ocular hypotensive medications on the development of drug-induced allergy. Manifestations of ocular surface disease may be associated with the influence of the main active component, and effect of preserving agent, which leads to the development of allergic, toxic, or inflammatory processes. Therapeutic regimes implying the appointment of several antihypertensive drugs increases the potential risk of ocular surface pathology.

NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF PSYCHOTROPIC DRUGS ON SEXUALITY OF THE MENTAL PATIENTS AS A RISK FACTOR FOR SELF-TERMINATION OF DRUG THERAPY

Vykhodtsev S.V., Tregubenko I.A.

Abstract

The results of the evaluation of attitude of mental patients on negative side effects of psychopharmacotherapy (PPT) on the sexuality are presented. Possible risks of compliance violations through self-termination of pharmacotherapy due to development of sexual dysfunction (SD) are predicted. Possible ways of formation of productive compliance with the mental patients are discussed and analyzed. Appointment of PPT requires knowledge of pharmacogenic causes of sexual dysfunctions, specialist’s readiness and competence to inform patients about possible risks for sexual dysfunctions against the background of treatment. Physician must be able to identify the violation and provide the relevant care for the patient, and if it is necessary - to refer patient to sexologist.

CARDIORENAL RELATIONSHIPS IN PATIENTS WITH PRIMARY HYPOTHYROIDISM DEPENDING ON THE PHASE OF DISEASE

Nikolaeva A.V., Pimenov L.T.

Abstract

The article presents the results of the evaluation of cardiorenal relationships in 187 patients with primary hypothyroidism of various etiologies at different phases of the disease taking into account the degree of thyroid insufficiency. All patients were diagnosed with such hemodynamic changes as left ventricular hypertrophy, diastolic dysfunction, decreased endothelium-dependent endothelial function, increased intima-media thickness, and decreased glomerular filtration rate (GFR). There was a significant relationship between GFR and age, thyroid-stimulating hormone level, systolic blood pressure, total cholesterol and low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels. Close relationships identified illustrate the fact of probable presence of cardiorenal syndrome in patients with primary hypothyroidism, and make it reasonable to include the dynamic evaluation of renal filtration function in standards for diagnosis and treatment of primary hypothyroidism, regardless of the phase of the disease, particularly in patients with concomitant cardiovascular pathology, taking into account the possible development of chronic kidney disease.
