MEDICAL TREATMENT FOR LUMBOSACRAL RADICULAR PAIN
Abstract
Successful medical management tactics for patients with lumbosacral radiculopathy are based on the exact identification of the radicular pattern of pain and on the assessment of pathophysiological components involved in the development of pain. The current views on the pathogenesis of radicular pain and the principles of targeted therapy are discussed.

DIASTOLIC HEART FAILURE: POSSIBILITIES OF DIAGNOSIS AND CHOICE OF ADEQUATE THERAPY
Abstract
Cardiac fibrosis has recently generated great interest among clinicians and physiologists. Particular attention has been given to the role of fibrosis in the development of diastolic dysfunction and as a consequence in the occurrence of chronic heart failure with preserved ejection fraction. Myocardial biopsy with determination of the interstitial collagen volume fraction is considered to be the gold standard for qualitative and quantitative assessment of myocardial fibrosis. The histological signs of the latter are detectable just in the early stages of hypertension in patients with moderate left ventricular hypertrophy. However, lifetime endomyocardial biopsy is a traumatic diagnostic technique, thus the development of non-invasive readily accessible methods is of great importance. It is no less important to elaborate general criteria for the early diagnosis of diastolic heart failure, as well as methods for its treatment and prevention.

TENSION HEADACHE: FROM CLINICAL DIVERSITY TO THERAPY PRIORITIES
Abstract
The paper discusses the current classification, prevalence, and social and medical burden of tension headache. Despite the high rate of this form of the disease, its diagnosis and adequate treatment are insufficiently developed. The paper presents basic strategies for the management of patients and their priority treatment options.

MORTINATALITY AS AN INTERDISCIPLINARY PROBLEM AND WAYS OF ITS SOLUTION
Abstract
According to the 2000-2008 data, the causes of mortinatality in the Ivanovo Region were placental and umbilical cord abnormalities (70.8%) and fetal hypoxia (87.9%). Placental morphological changes in antenatal mortality were mainly associated with infection and its sequels and with impaired spiral artery remodeling in early pregnancy. A package of organizational measures for prevention of mortinatality has been defined.

PERIODIC DISEASE: POSSIBILITIES OF DIAGNOSIS
Abstract
Periodic disease (PD) is among the most common congenital periodic (autoinflammatory) disorders. The paper describes a clinical case diagnosed with PD during the first visit to a therapeutic-and-prophylactic facility according to the results of a molecular genetic analysis.

THE INFLUENCE OF SELANK ON COURSE OF PAIN SYNDROM IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC PAIN SYNDROMS OF LUMBOSACRAL SPINE
Abstract
The basic principles of multimodality therapy of pain syndrome in lumbosacral spine are discussed in this article. Represented algorithms, including psychoactive drug’ Selank application, have a great potential in a clinical practice of neurologist. A beneficial effect of Selank on the neuropathic component of radiculopathy was established in our study.

IMPROVEMENT OF THE TECHNIQUES OF ARTHROSCOPIC MEMBRANE CHONDROPLASTY OF THE FEMORAL CONDYLES
Abstract
The paper presents special tools that can improve the technique of arthroscopic chondroplasty of the femoral condyles, by applying the Chondo-Guide collagen membrane. A hand cutting instrument to create the even margins of a cartilage defect and a ruler to measure its sizes are proposed. The use of the special cutting instrument could accelerate the preparation of the bone bed to implant the membrane by 2.9-fold and that of the ruler could determine the sizes of an implantable collagen membrane flap without employing a template, i.e. without resorting to arthrotomy.

DIFFERENTIATED APPROACHES TO PREVENTING BRONCHOPULMONARY DYSPLASIA IN TERMS OF HLA PHENOTYPE AND PERINATAL HISTORY
Abstract
Major histocompatibility complex genes and perinatal histories were analyzed in extremely premature infants with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD). Immunogenetic markers for predisposition to the disease and its resistance were ascertained; the most important maternal and neonatal risk factors were specified; a differentiated regimen was elaborated to prevent BPD.

THE LEVEL OF sPECAM-1 DURING SYSTEMIC OZONE THERAPY
Abstract
Systemic ozone therapy used during combination treatment shows a significant reduction in the titer of soluble platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (sPECAM-1) in the peripheral plasma of patients with local cold injury and arterosclerosis obliterans of the lower extremities.

THE PARAMETERS OF HEMOSTASIS AND PROTEIN AND LIPID METABOLISM AND THE DURATION OF TYPE 1 DIABETES MELLITUS
Abstract
It has been found that the platelet coagulation hemostatic changes occurring at the onset of type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1) are steady-state and unrelated to disease duration and their associated alterations in carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolic parameters are determined by the duration of DM1.

VACCINATION WITH THE RUSSIAN INFLUENZA VIROSOME-FORMULATED VACCINE ULTRIX® IN ADULTS 18-60 YEARS OF AGE
Abstract
This prospective randomized clinical observation of 18-60-year-old adults vaccinated with the Russian influenza split virosome-formulated inactivated vaccine Ultrix® has evaluated its reactogenicity, safety, immunogenicity, and preventive efficacy. The vaccine shows high safety profile, low reactogenicity, sufficient immunogenicity, and high preventive efficacy.

USE OF CORONATERA IN PATIENTS WITH ISCHEMIC HEART DISEASE IN COMBINATION WITH ARTERIAL HYPERTENSION IN SANATORIUM TREATMENT
Abstract
The results of treatment of ischemic heart disease in combination with arterial hypertension using routine methods and using Coronatera in the resort were compared. Preliminary studies have shown that the use of Coronatera during the course (18 days) leads to a decrease in systolic blood pressure on 7,15%, which is the best result. More powerful studies are needed to confirm the result and the formation of methodical recommendations on the application of Coronatera.
