Abstract: The article substantiates terms based on the concept of “reality”, which began to be used in the media and in connection with the testing of digital technologies. Attention is focused on “virtual reality” (VR) and its varieties (Augmented Reality, AR; Mixed Reality, MR). Their application corrects approaches to the production of film and television products, changes the immanent connection with the audience. Terms are compared with the concepts of “media reality”, “screen reality”, introduced into the scientific revolution. As a result, the screen adapts multi reality, which affects the consciousness of the individual.

The author uses the historical-comparative method in the interdisciplinary approach to the justification of new terms: the properties and attributes of the concepts “objective reality” and “subjective reality” are identified, which are basic for all word combinations formulated on the basis of the concept of "reality". The contribution of the creation of R. Descartes, J. Berkley, I. Kant, I. Fichte, F. Gegel, L. Wittgenstein, and E. Kassirer to the disclosure of the essence of the concept “reality” is substantiated. An analysis of the concepts of “media reality” and “screen reality”, introduced into the scientific revolution in the first decade of the 21st century.

The regularity of introducing a new segment of the media market is determined, the essence of which is the formats of "virtual reality" and its varieties — augmented and mixed reality. The judgments of the French philosopher Jean Baudrillard, who believed that the world is moving toward the disappearance of the real and immersion in virtuality, are sorted out. The distinctive features of "virtual reality", "augmented reality" and "mixed reality", which influence the consciousness of the individual, expand his imagination and knowledge potential. A wide scope of applications of innovative technologies is also indicated. In conclusion, a wide range of applications of innovative technologies is indicated. It is specified that modern technologies and the use of virtual reality with its varieties provide the individual with the mastering of the modern algorithm of cultural and cognitive processes, transfer the media industry to a new stage of reforming.
