The article researches into the evolution of the kaleidoscopic image. The first part surveys A.L. Coburn’s vortographic experiments of the 1910s, the kaleidoscopizing of a human body and natural objects in photography during the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century, as well as the ideas of using it outside artistic practices.
