SAMARA PAGES OF MSTISLAV ROSTROPOVICH'S LIFE: ABOUT THE PREMIERE OF S.M. SLONIMSKY'S OPERA «VIDENIYA IOANNA GROZNOGO»

Buranok O.M.

Abstract

Mstislav Rostropovich came to Kuibyshev-Samara many times. Already at the end of his life and career, he, remembering our city, said: "I loved him...". The fifth visit of M. Rostropovich to Samara was the longest: from January 20 to March 3, 1999 the Visit was associated with the preparation for the premiere (it was called "world") of S.M. Slonimsky's "Visions of Ivan the terrible" at the Samara Opera and ballet theatre. Robert Sturua directed the play, the artist was Georgy Alexi-Meskhishvili (See. read more: Experience M newspaper. Culture, №6(114). 2016, March). February 10, 1999 burned down the building of the ATC Samara: a terrible sight, dozens of dead - this witness-we were all workers of the administration: the end of the day, the sky was covered with smoke, the stench came down the streets of the Pioneer and Komsomol to the Volga. Already by the evening rumors spread around the city - some worse than the other. The next day it became known that Mstislav Leopoldovich visits the fire victims, provides financial assistance. 58 families received money directly from his hands. It was terrible to look at him these days - so he experienced the incident. The Maestro has been to every family. This, of course, left a certain emotional imprint on the preparation and premiere of the Opera.

Dyatlova E.A.

Abstract

The aim of this article is to reveal the special features of project making management process in the sphere of state and municipal administration. The results presented in the article were obtained through the following research methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific information, federal educational standard of higher education for the major 38.03.04 State and Municipal Administration (bachelor level), generalization and regimentation of scientific facts and thesis. Today the training of managers in the sphere of state and municipal administration is, on the one hand, a part of the whole educational system of Russia, but on the other hand, it cannot ignore the changes in the field of state and municipal administration throughout the country. In this article the specifics of state and municipal project making management is presented through the characteristic features of this sector and the changes, which have taken place in the sector for the past several years. Formation of project making into a separate activity has partly happened due to the worldwide tendency to change from traditional state administration to a new way of operation - state management. Evolution of the New Public Management (NPM) concept let implant the methods and tools of business administration into state and municipal administration sector. The analysis of the state and the private sectors’ management made it possible to figure out the similarities and the differences of these sectors. Thus, similarities facilitate borrowing of the methods by each of the sectors, while differences make it necessary to take the specifics of each sector into consideration in the process of borrowing. Consequently, according to the definition of the project manager competence based on the International Project Management Association model, the main difference between a business sphere manager and a state and municipal sphere manager is in the range of contextual competences, which should be considered while training state and municipal project managers.

EFFECTS OF CRITICAL THINKING ON QUALITY OF STUDYING FOREIGN LANGUAGE FOR SPECIAL PURPOSES

Sosnina E.P., Starostina N.N.

Abstract

This research considers the problem of Critical Thinking development as a condition for effective acquisition of Foreign Language for Special Purposes in university programs. In this paper we focus on our didactic experience in developing Critical Thinking competences of students-linguists during ESP course. We refer to new drafts of Russian Federal State Standards of Higher Education in Linguistics and Literary studies, in which Critical Thinking is defined as a universal competence. A hypothesis of our research is supported by several studies and experiments. During the first stage of the research, the authors identified the low dynamics of Critical Thinking development at College-Bachelor-Master levels and decided to organize didactic experiments to find an effective technology for Critical Thinking development. We developed and applied the adapted version of a technology based on Problem-Based Learning and Critical Thinking Development through Reading and Writing offered by D. Steele, K. Meredith, C. Temple and S. Walter. The adapted version of our technology follows the algorithmic processes of the original technology as evocation-realization-reflection. In the first experiment, while teaching Business English, authors focus on the deductive-basis approach when selecting teaching methods to develop Critical Thinking. In the second experiment, while teaching English for Computing, the authors take into account the major of future professional activity of their students when choosing activity to organize the course in Foreign Language for Special Purposes. The statistical data show that the level of Critical Thinking and ESP knowledge (in the field of computer technologies) in the experimental group of students is higher than in the control group. The results of our experiments have the explicit effects and potential of the adapted technology in developing Critical Thinking competences in ESP courses of university students.

THE VALUE OF PHYSICAL EDUCATION FOR STUDENTS OF HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS OF THE PENITENTIARY SYSTEM OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Titova O.Z., Gazizulin A.I.

Abstract

Professional activities of the penal staff as a rule is carried out in extreme conditions, that is, in the presence of a real threat to life and health. The ability to overcome their own state of weakness both physical and psychological determines the further behavior of a person in an extreme situation, and therefore the success of the task. The difficulty of training the staff of the penal system to act in extreme conditions is also the inability to create a situation that is as real life-threatening as possible, in conditions of training with real injuries and death of employees in training sessions. Otherwise, it would be a violation of legal and moral norms. Therefore, the main emphasis in the training of employees to act in extreme conditions is on training techniques of psychophysical self-regulation and the development of self-reflection of employees. Physical culture helps to minimize the aforementioned risks and to train staff of the penal correction system on the solution of emergency problems.

CHRONOTOPE «SOVIET CENTURY»: NEW METHODOLOGY

Burlina E.Y.

Abstract

The article presents the fundamental editions of domestic and foreign authors, published after 2017 and devoted to the «Soviet century». «Chronotopes of the Soviet civilization» became the basic categories of the book of the famous German professor K. Schloegel «The Soviet Century. Archeology of the Perished World» (2018). Such a methodological approach is close to the paradigms of Professor GG. Dadamian «in Atlantis of Soviet Art.» This methodology was considered in the reports at the Dadamian Memorial Conference (Moscow, 2018). Also presented are methodological innovations in a number of other works: studies by Yuri Slezkin, including: «Government House» (2018); Mikhail Zygar's educational project «The Empire Must Die» (2017). The author of the article believes that modern scholars avoid imposing their ideologies on the past. Studying the meanings of a bygone time, they strive to define typical spatial forms of the «Soviet century». It is proposed to define the functions of the «chronotope of the two-time», which conjugates the different stages of the 100-year history of the «Soviet century».

FIELD APPROACH AS ONE OF THE TOOLS OF COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS

Zhuravlev A.P.

Abstract

The article deals with the field approach as one of the most effective ways of description and representation of lexical-semantic structure of language. It is being noted that any language can be considered as a combination of lexical-semantic fields. Apart from this, the topicality of the approach is being stressed out; it is caused by the fact that lexical-semantic field is not artificial but natural method (in terms of organization and functioning of language) of representation of related information. For this reason, lexical-semantic field can be used for solving a variety of theoretical and practical issues. In other words, representation of lexis as a field possesses enormous applicative potential, and not only in linguistics and related disciplines. It is being noted that the field approach shows its highest efficiency when applied to specialized lexical-semantic fields, i.e. terminological fields, regardless of subject field they belong to. The article analyses a number of definitions provided for the ‘lexical-semantic field’ notion in order to figure out the one which is the most relevant for today’s research. Basic types of semantic relations between lexical units making up a field (such as synonymy, meronymy etc.) are also analyzed in the article. These relations show the similarity between the field approach and the method of thesaurus modelling. It is also being noted that no method of representation of lexical-semantic structure of language is universal - its choice depends on a particular goal a researcher wants to achieve. In general, the field approach is considered as an instrument for modelling the structure of lexical-semantic fields for applicative purposes such as development of common-language and specialized thesauruses.

ON THE DAY OF PASCHA. THE EVANGELICAL SUBTEXT IN PUSHKIN’S «STANZAS» («WANDERING THE NOISY STREETS...»)

Pimonov V.I.

Abstract

This article explores one of Pushkin’s greatest poems - «Stanzas» («Wandering the Noisy Streets…»). The author argues that beneath the lines «грядущей смерти годовщину» («the anniversary of my death») usually interpreted in connection with the poet’s desire to guess an accurate date of his own death, lies a hidden evangelical, Paschal subtext. The article shows that the unusual use of the word «годовщина» (anniversary) containing the elements of meaning related to «the past» and «calendar regularity» as well as to «the future» and to «what is coming», definitely alludes to the semantics of the Paschal cycle about the death and Resurrection of Jesus. Although Pascha (also called Easter) is a regular, most important event annually celebrated in the Christian calendar, it is necessary to «guess», «predict» or, more exactly, «calculate» the day of Pascha for coming years, according to a special formula. Consequently, the day of Pascha determines the date of the coming death anniversary of Jesus. The semantic structure of the elegy contains a meta-literary parallel between, on the one hand, the coming death anniversary of Jesus and «the anniversary of the poet’s death» and, on the other hand - between Resurrection of Jesus and the «revival», «return to life» of Pushkin’s narrator-hero. The author comes to the conclusion that the symbolic triad «birth / death / revival» (of the lyric hero) forming the narrative base of the elegy and corresponding to «birth, death and Resurrection» (of Jesus), illuminates a hidden evangelical subtext of the poem.
