The search for a new development strategy of a regional institute of culture in conditions of glocalization

Naumova O.S., Alasheeva S.A.

Abstract

This article examines current problems of strategizing an institute of culture considering the process of glocalization, as a regional response to global challenges. Conditions of «new regionalism» associated with the growing role of local territories (regions, cities, districts) and increased attention to their socio-cultural identity promote the pursuit of optimal ways to integrate a regional institute of culture and arts into global processes. As a result it becomes necessary to form a new model for a regional institute of culture in particular, the Samara State Institute of Culture and a cultural and philosophical understanding of the issues involved.

Zhurcheva T.V.

Abstract

This article is devoted to versions of Chekhov’s play “Three Sisters” in film at the turn of the twenty-first century. Analyzed are interpretations of the play by Sergei Solov’ev (1994) and Iuri Grymov (2017). Both films appeared in crisis periods, at times of rethinking historical experience and re-evaluating beliefs; each responds to the challenges of its time. The aim of this article is to reveal the originality of these films, and to consider them in relation to the text of the Chekhov’s play, to the established tradition of reading it, and, finally, with each other. This analysis allows us to understand how each of the directors sees the world and what historical problems seem to them the most important. The author examines not only the originality of the interpretations by two directors belonging to different generations, but also specific ways of visualizing Chekhov in cinema.

A. P. Antropov – the first russian portrait painter of Catherine II: on the dialogicity of traditions

Skorobogacheva E.A., Kremneva A.V.

Abstract

The dialogicity of traditions in the work of A. P. Antropov has not previously been given due attention by researchers. For the first time, the article attempts to consider it as a significant component of the portraitist’s artistic language. To demonstrate this hypothesis, the authors examine both major and little-known works about which critics have given conflicting evaluations. The authors conclude that the dialogic nature of traditions in A.P. Antropov’s portrait painting expresses the essence of his work, which was due to the historical and political specifics of the era, Catherine II’s aesthetic preferences, and the artistic priorities of the painter himself.

Theatrical reading: from a theatrical format to the separate dramatic genre of a “text for performance”

Sizova M.I.

Abstract

This article deals with the phenomenon of theatrical reading (“chitka,” the performative reading of a play out loud before an audience) as a socio-cultural phenomenon. Theatrical reading has had an enormous impact on the whole theatrical process in general and on Russian-speaking drama in particular. This article discusses the connection between theatrical reading and the New Drama, from the emergence of the Liubimovka contemporary play laboratory at Yasnaia Poliana to current acoustic experiments with plays in cyberspace by playwrights. The author examines the historical background of the emergence of this theatrical genre in the German theater of Bertolt Brecht and the domestic adaptation of its use by the ideologists of Russian-language documentary theater. The author describes the long and fruitful collaboration between young authors, directors, and Moscow’s Teatr.doc, headed by its theoreticians – and, in fact, the “parents” of the new drama – Mikhail Ugarov and Elena Gremina.

Joan Miro’s art in the context of abstract surrealism

Stolyarova E.G.

Abstract

This article examines Joan Miró’s original approach to abstract art. Abstract surrealism was formed in the visual arts and literature of the early twentieth century as an interpretation of the Western avant-garde movement. It was characterized by a special way of painting images of things that do not exist but capturing and transmitting them with the accuracy of a photographer, with a maximum degree of realism. Miró’s artistic and creative approach to abstract surrealism has inspired contemporary art. The study of surrealism in the art of the twentieth century has given impetus to the search for new artistic methods and techniques, both in the fine arts and in decorative and applied works.

The concept of “pride” («гордость») in east slavic and polish linguocultures

Stefanski E.E.

Abstract

This article considers the concept of «PRIDE» («ГОРДОСТЬ») in four Slavic linguocultures from the standpoint of modern linguocultural studies. The author examines the lexical means of implementing this concept and their value characteristics, as well as the question of the mutual influence of these linguocultures. The so-called “Polish ambition” (“Польский гонор”) noted by the Poles’ eastern neighbors reflects the increased attention in the Polish consciousness to a person’s interest in defending her or his honor and dignity, concepts that are denoted by the word “honor” in the Polish language.

Updating of cultural heritage in the context of contemporary cultural policy

Loginova M.V.

Abstract

This article examines the problem of cultural heritage from the point of view of modern Russian cultural policy. The actualization of the values of cultural heritage represents a specific decoding of the culture code and its transformation in accordance with modern cultural meanings. The appeal to dialogue as a methodological principle allows us to consider cultural heritage as a necessary condition for the existence of culture in its axiological dimension. The values of cultural heritage have the potential to resist the massification and standardization of culture and its transformation into a means of manipulating public consciousness. The author urges further study of the issue under consideration and argues for the need to actualize the cultural heritage with regard to specific problems of cultural policy that arise in regional cultural life.
