Optimal pharmacotherapy in outpatients who have experienced myocardial infarction
Abstract
The paper considers the possibilities of using generic counterparts of their brand-name drugs in outpatients who have experienced myocardial infarction. Assessing the relationship between higher mental functions and blood pressure (BP), it is necessary to recognize the need for a rational approach to a stepwise BP reduction.

Intra-abdominal hypertension syndrome in modern physician practice
Abstract
Intra-abdominal hypertension and intra-abdominal hypertension syndrome are often concurrent with acute pancreatitis, sepsis, and intestinal obstruction, leading to increased mortality in patients. Just the same, intra-abdominal pressure is monitored regularly only in critical situations rather than on a permanent basis. Monitoring intra-abdominal pressure in the postoperative period is needed to prevent complications and to reduce mortality rates.

Gender features of myocardial structural and functional changes in patients with chronic glomerulonephritis at the predialysis stage of the disease
Abstract
Male patients with glomerulonephritis at the predialysis stage of chronic kidney disease show a predominance of concentric left ventricular hypertrophy that is associated with the development of clinically significant cardiac arrhythmias. Whereas female patients with chronic glomerulonephritis have a lower glomerular filtration rate, anemia, a higher frequency of eccentric left ventricular hypertrophy and supraventricular ectopic activity.

Psyllium as a lipid-lowering agent: results of a multicenter study
Abstract
A total of 721 patients aged 19 to 91 years were examined and treated in a multicenter randomized prospective study. The use of psyllium (Mucofalk) in multitargeted therapy was justified in patients with hyperlipidemia, metabolic syndrome, and constipation. Mucofalk was proven to have a lipid-lowering effect in all patient groups; it was demonstrated that the drug could be co-administered with statins for synergistic action in patients at high and very high risk for cardiovascular diseases. Stool was normalized in the majority of patients long treated with Mucofalk. Drug discontinuation was not required in any patient. Twenty-four Mucofalk therapy reduced body mass index by an average of 4.759.80% without substantial dietary restrictions in the patients.

Central pontine myelinolysis
Abstract
The paper considers the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical features, treatment, and prognosis of central pontine myelinolysis (CPM). It described a case of CPM arising in eating disorders, regular alcohol consumption, and uncontrolled use of diuretics, which cause electrolyte disturbances.

Vessel elasticity in acute cerebral vascular disease
Abstract
Comparative analysis of systolic pressure and pulse wave velocity (PWV) could establish the features of PWV, which reflected the specific features of the pathogenesis of a vascular complication for each groups, from the changes in the stiffness and elasticity of the vascular wall.

Hemodynamic parameters in women with hypoestrogenemia with metabolically healthy obesity
Abstract
The paper gives the results of investigations, which suggest that young women with estro-gen deficiency and hypertension show a certain association between body mass index (BMI) and 24-hour monitoring readings, such as an elevation in systolic and diastolic blood pressure (BP) at different times of the day, the high magnitude and rate of morning surge in BP with a higher pres-sure-induced load as BMI increases. The high correlation of BMI and the power of LF waves that characterize the sympathetic portion of the spectrum may be regarded as evidence for a pathoge-netic relationship between BMI and the degree of sympathetic nervous system activity.

Comorbidity in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Abstract
The paper presents the frequency and pattern of comorbidities in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It gives the features of chronic kidney disease and the risk of cardiovascular disease in this group of patients. Monitoring intra-abdominal pressure in the postoperative period is necessary to prevent complications and reduce mortality.

Optimizing the assessment of chronic kidney disease stages in diabetic patients, by applying the computer program «Chronic_Kidney_Disease_Diagnostics»
Abstract
The paper considers the practicability of computer-aided calculation of glomerular filtration rate in diabetic patients, by applying the computer program “Chronic_ Kidney_Disease_Diagnostics” that makes it possible to diagnose chronic kidney disease at an early preclinical stage.

Evaluation of the endometrium in women with recurrent miscarriage
Abstract
Recurrent miscarriage is a worldwide problem that has many causes: genetic, anatomic, endocrine, autoimmune, etc.; histopathological study of uterine aspiration after abortion can narrow the range. Identification of a dominant cause makes it possible to choose an individual treatment option and to improve perinatal outcomes.

Myopia and orthokeratology treatment in combination with hardware treatment
Abstract
To identify the most effective methods for preventing the progression of myopia in children, the investigators investigated the results of using only spectacle correction, orthokeratology therapy and those of using hardware treatment with orthokeratology lenses.

Assessment of autonomic regulation of the cardiovascular system in adolescent boys of pre-draft age
Abstract
Autonomic regulation of the cardiovascular system has been assessed in 192 boys of pre-draft age with various subclinical forms of cardiovascular diseases and in 50 children of a control group. The findings suggest that sympathicotonia is predominant in the examinees of the study group.

Relationship between foot pathology and knee osteoarthritis
Abstract
Degenerative and dystrophic joint diseases of the lower extremity are a common orthopedic pathology in modern society with its intense rhythm of life and recurrent injuries, which aggravate the course of pathological processes. The paper describes the relationship between foot pathology and knee osteoarthritis.

The possibility of treating chronic lower limb ischemia in a day hospital
Abstract
An optimized method to treat early-stage chronic lower limb ischemia in a day hospital has been devised and substantiated. The method includes lumbar chemical desympathization that improves quality of life in patients and enhances interventional reconstructive surgery.

Decreased cardiac mortality with nicorandil in patients with ischemic heart failure
Abstract
Effective treatments in heart failure (HF) patients with ischemic etiology have not been fully established. Nicorandil, combination of nitrate component and sarcolemmal adenosine triphosphate-sensitive potassium channel opener, is a potent vasodilator of coronary and peripheral vessels and has been used as an antianginal agent. Nicorandil is potentially effective for reducing mortality in patients with ischemic HF.
