Abstract

Hereditary sensory and autonomic polyneuropathies (HSAP) is a group of rare inherited diseases with progressively decreased sensitivity, leading to insensibility to pain. A case of mutating HSAP is described. The specific feature of the case is the absence of pain syndrome. The given clinical example suggests that there is a need to increase awareness of the clinical picture of HSAP and the ways of early detection of patients with such disabling hereditary polyneuropathies among physicians of different specialties.

Abstract

Latent HBV infection characterized by the isolated location of viral DNA in the liver in the absence of HBEe-, HBs-antigenemia and viremia was identified in 40,8% of patients with chronic viral hepatitis B (CVHB) in the presence of IgG class antibodies to nuclear HBV protein. CVHB with latent infection showed a weak activity and low-symptom benign course in 69,4% of the patients; but in 12,2% hepatocytic inflammation and fibrosis continuously progressed and liver cirrhosis developed 15-20 years later.
