HEART RATE VARIABILITY IN CONCOMITANT CARDIOBRONCHIAL DISEASE

ANTISECRETORY THERAPY IN PATIENTS WITH PEPTIC ULCER
Abstract
Gastroduodenal peptic ulcer is one of the most common digestive diseases. Despite the multietiological pattern of the disease, Helicobacter pylori infection remains its leading etiological factor and proton pump inhibitors form a basis for the therapy. The use of timely diagnostic methods and the choice of rational management tactics will be able to reduce therapy costs and to improve quality of life.

HEREDITARY SENSORY AND AUTONOMIC POLYNEUROPATHIES
Abstract
Hereditary sensory and autonomic polyneuropathies (HSAP) is a group of rare inherited diseases with progressively decreased sensitivity, leading to insensibility to pain. A case of mutating HSAP is described. The specific feature of the case is the absence of pain syndrome. The given clinical example suggests that there is a need to increase awareness of the clinical picture of HSAP and the ways of early detection of patients with such disabling hereditary polyneuropathies among physicians of different specialties.

SYNCOPE IN ADOLESCENTS: CLINICAL AND EPIDEMIOLOGICAL ASPECTS
Abstract
The results of a questionnaire survey were studied in 287 adolescent schoolchildren (109 boys and 178 girls) aged 14-18 years. The questionnaire contained a list of questions to elucidate their histories of syncope (presyncope), the nature of trigger factors, and the clinical features of a syncopal episode, by identifying pre- and postsyncopal periods, and syncope proper.

OSTEOPOROSIS: DIAGNOSIS AND EFFECTIVE TREATMENT
Abstract
The comparative analysis showed that Osteomed forte proved to be more effective than calcium carbonate made by a foreign manufacturer and strontium ranelate in treating postmenopausal osteoporosis. An X-ray absorption technique was used to determine bone mineral density and the size of cavitary masses in the patients; the treatment cycle lasted 10 months.

LATENT HBV INFECTION IN PATIENTS WITH CHRONIC HEPATITIS B
Abstract
Latent HBV infection characterized by the isolated location of viral DNA in the liver in the absence of HBEe-, HBs-antigenemia and viremia was identified in 40,8% of patients with chronic viral hepatitis B (CVHB) in the presence of IgG class antibodies to nuclear HBV protein. CVHB with latent infection showed a weak activity and low-symptom benign course in 69,4% of the patients; but in 12,2% hepatocytic inflammation and fibrosis continuously progressed and liver cirrhosis developed 15-20 years later.

UVB 311 nm FOR SEBORRHEIC DERMATITIS
Abstract
The paper gives the results of treatment with UVB 311 nm in 40 patients with seborrheic dermatitis and rashes located on the scalp, face, and chest. Clinical cure was achieved in 87.5% of the patients. It was shown that UVB 311 nm was an effective and safe therapy for seborrheic dermatitis and, when used in combination with conventional treatments for this abnormality, produced a more pronounced clinical effect and a more prolonged remission.

RENAL FUNCTION IN CHILDREN WITH CELIAC DISEASE
Abstract
Due to the fact that children with celiac disease show a pronounced trend towards kidney abnormalities (dysmetabolic nephropathy and, less frequently, tubulointerstitial nephritis), there is a need for comprehensive kidney examination in the above patients during each hospitalization to reveal changes at the preclinical stage and possibly their earlier correction.

EFFECT OF NATURAL PRODUCTS ON THE ATHEROGENIC MODIFICATION OF LDL
Abstract
Modified low-density lipoproteins (LDL) stimulate cholesterol accumulation in the cells of blood vessels, favoring the development of atherosclerosis. The enzyme trans-sialidase induces atherogenic modification of LDL. This investigation has studied the effect of extracts from natural products on plasma trans-sialidase activity.
