URBAN STORIES
Four morphotypes of historical development in Samara
Abstract
The article examines the morphotypes of historical development in Samara: wooden, exemplary, mixed (non-structural), representative. These morphotypes are typical of regular urban estates – the main layer of buildings in the historical settlement. Each of them is analyzed by the following parameters: location relative to the core of the historical center of the city, degree of preservation, density of development, class affiliation, material of execution, architectural style, parametric data and functional purpose. It is concluded that in addition to the differences in the indicators of the designated parameters, each morphotype of development corresponds to the levels of density of development and is located radially relative to Revolution Square – the core of the historical center of Samara.

Scheme of planned development of Samara by V.N. Semenov and A.A. Galaktionov 1928-1929
Abstract
The Samara development planning scheme of 1928-1929 became the first stage in the elaboration of the city development concept in the post-revolutionary period, which determined the main directions of design work on general planning in the pre-war and post-war years. The growth of Samara, the increase in population and the implementation of the industrialization plan revealed the need to develop an orderly urban development scheme that would meet the pressing development requirements. Until now, the original of the Samara (Kuibyshev) city planning scheme developed by the City Planning Bureau of the NKVD Cartographic Publishing House of the RSFSR by V.N. Semenov and A.A. Galaktionov, whose ideas determined the directions of subsequent work, has not been found. The article provides the first materials that made it possible to recreate in general terms the main ideas of the city planning scheme. In the course of the work, the prerequisites for the development of the Samara general plan scheme, the history of the organization of the Moscow Giprogor, which was engaged in this design until 1934, biographical information about the authors, as well as the main ideas of the project were studied. The result was a reconstructed scheme of the planning development of 1928-1929. The work contributes to the history of urban development of Samara and will allow its results to be used in further research.

WORKSHOP
Master plan as a tool for developing a historical settlement
Abstract
The master plan is considered as an urban planning tool for the development of historical settlements and the preservation of unique features of the urban environment. The range of problems considered in master planning is outlined. Using Samara as an example, the issue of integrated development of territories is raised taking into account their cultural and economic potential. The main principles of creating a master plan for a historical settlement include participation of citizens, zoning for work and life, equal access to benefits, green areas, logical transport infrastructure, and preservation of heritage. These principles are aimed at creating a comfortable urban environment. An important role is played by the totality of public spaces where people socialize and interact, as well as green spaces, social activity zones, a transport framework, and the placement of regional and urban facilities.
