To the question of the causes of motor disorders in case of damage to the posterior roots, as well as the distribution of the collateral branches of these latter in the gray mass of the spinal cord

Lapinskiy M.N.

Abstract

Experiments are known in the literature, during which experimenters, crossing the sensory nerve roots, observed paresis and even paralysis of the motor sphere of this area in the test animals. Claude-Bernard (Leсons sur la physiologiе du systéme nerveux. 1863), cutting the posterior roots of the sciatic nerve in a frog, received paralysis of a limb that had lost sensitivity as a result of such an operation.

A few words about the new sleeping pill "dormiol"

Aikhenwald L.I.

Abstract

The beneficial value of sleep for the body is so firmly established that it is quite understandable the relentless desire to find a remedy that would help restore the flow of stressed forces of the central nervous system and remove from the body the products of metamorphosis - "fatiguing substances". Unfortunately, the existing methods of treating agripnia are very often powerless in the fight against this disease.

On the speed of the simplest voluntary movements

Rudnev V.I.

Abstract

In man, individual muscle contractions can occur with remarkable speed, according to the physiologist Landois. The fastest movement that he could make with his right hand, imitating the writing of two letters n, showed that there were about 0.0564 seconds for each rise and fall; therefore, he could make about 18 movements per second.

When studying the speed of movements, we put in the foreground eye movements, the determination of the speed of which is important in many respects.

On the question of the influence of temperature on the latent period and the shape of the curve of contraction of striated muscles

Loginov V.I.

Abstract

Looking through the works of Mendelssohn, Bezold, G. Veo, Th. Cach, R. Tiegerstedt'a, J. Gad'a, F. Heymans'a, Schenck'a, Rollet'a and A. Lohmann'a, it can be seen that all the authors mentioned agree that with decreasing temperature the latent the period of the muscle contraction curve increases; the disagreement lies, firstly, in the opinion regarding the change in the height of the curve and the magnitude of the descent; secondly, the question of the gradual increase in the latent period, depending on the gradual decrease in temperature, remains unclear, and most importantly, the question of the constancy of the latent period at different temperatures is not raised at all.

On the pupillary reaction during transection of the optic nerve inside the skull

Chirkovsky V.V.

Abstract

In September 1901, at a congress of physiologists in Turin, Marenhi demonstrated to members of Congress two rabbits in which he had performed a unilateral transection of the optic nerve inside the skull. In both rabbits, a light reaction was noted on the operated side, which differed from the reaction of the uninjured side in its lethargy and limited size. This paradoxical fact was observed by Marenhi in several operated animals, both immediately after the operation and for many months after it.

About the commissural systems of the cerebral cortex (Corpus callosum, anterior commissure and David's lyre) тип статьи - научная

Yanishevsky A.E.

Abstract

The commissural systems of the cerebral cloak in higher vertebrates are enclosed in three anatomically separate formations: the corpus callosum, the anterior commissure, and in that section of the arch, which is known as David's lyre.

But the existence of such sections in the commissural fibers of the cortex in lower vertebrates seems far from clear.

In fish, the forebrain is connected by a commissure called the commissura anterior or commissura interlobularis.

The effect of cerebrin on the excitability of the cerebral cortex

Osipov V.P.

Abstract

The advances in organotherapy and serotherapy in recent decades have given rise to a whole range of remedies, even those whose foundations rest on shaky foundations; therapy often makes painful efforts, energetically following new trends in medicine and trying to apply more and more new remedies, the offers of which often exceed demand, but which still do not satisfy the hopes placed on them, since they are partly only varieties of other remedies that no longer satisfy the expectations presented. requirements for them. Just as easily and quickly new medicines appear and spread at the present time, so easily and quickly some of them are forgotten.

To the question of vasomotor neuroses of the extremities

Obraztsov V.N.

Abstract

There are diseases in the symptom complex of which vasomotor phenomena predominate or even constitute their essence, in which, however, we are not able to say anything definite about the basis or starting point of suffering. In these cases, they speak of vasomotor neuroses, or angioedema.

Abstract

The author studied the nerve nodes of the heart in animals (rabbits and dogs) poisoned with street rabies poison and fixed poison, and in humans in two cases of death from rabies. In all cases, he did not find any specific changes in the nerve cells. Nerve nodes were infiltrated with leukocytes, stromal cells proliferated.

Shapiro M.B.

Abstract

Changes in the central nervous system during menstruation cannot be viewed only as purely reflex, caused by local processes of peripheral irritation of the ovarian nerves. During menstruation, a very important general biological process takes place, in which the vascular and nervous systems take part. Nervous and mental changes are only a particular phenomenon in the overall picture.

Obraztsov V.N.

Abstract

The authors described a case of flaccid paraplegia with loss of tendon reflexes that developed during tuberculous pachymeningitis of the cervical spine, which was established by pathological and anatomical autopsy.

As a clinical feature of this case, it should be noted that flaccid paraplegia developed extremely quickly, apoplectiformly, within 36 hours; already on the next day after the patient felt weakness in the legs, complete paralysis of the legs occurred with the absence of tendon reflexes, sensitivity disorder in the form of anesthesia and disorder of the pelvic organs. Reflexes did not recover until the death of the patient, which occurred after 5 months.

Defenders of existence so-called. subcortical aphasia is considered a hallmark of it from cortical aphasia - the absence of complications from other types of speech disorders. Under the supervision of the author for ten years there was a patient who had lost: the ability to arbitrarily pronounce words, the ability to repeat words, the ability to read aloud. Completely internal speech was preserved and the ability to write freely, the ability to copy, the ability to write from dictation, the understanding of words, the ability to read silently was preserved.

Of the successive contractures in peripheral nerve palsy, only contracture in facial paralysis is known in the literature. Therefore, the author considers it worthy to describe the sequential contracture in paralysis of the ulnar nerve, as it has never been described so far. This contracture, which gives a very characteristic position to the hand, he called main en npince.
