Combined DG scheme that maintains increased accuracy in areas of shock waves

Ladonkina M.E., Nekliudova O.A., Ostapenko V.V., Tishkin V.F.

Abstract

A combined scheme of the discontinuous Galerkin method is proposed. This scheme monotonously localizes the fronts of shock waves and simultaneously maintains increased accuracy in the regions of smoothness of the calculated solutions. In this scheme, a non-monotonic version of the third-order DG method is used as the baseline and a monotonic version of this method is used as the internal one, in which a nonlinear correction of numerical flows is used. Tests demonstrating the advantages of the new scheme compared to the standard monotonized variants of the DG method are provided.

Complete transformation of Radon-Kipriyanov. Some properties

Lyakhov L.N., Lapshina M.G., Roshchupkin S.A.

Abstract

The even Radon-Kipriyanov transform (Kg-transform) is suitable for investigating problems with the Bessel singular differential operator Bϒi = 2χi2+γiχiχi, γi > 0.  In this paper, we introduce the odd Radon-Kipriyanov transform and complete Radon-Kipriyanov transform to investigation more general equations containing odd B‑derivatives χiBγikk = 0, 1, 2, ... (in particular, gradients of functions). Formulas of Kϒ-transforms of singular differential operators are given. Based on the Bessel transforms introduced by B. M. Levitan and the “odd” Bessel transform introduced by I. A. Kipriyanov and V. V. Katrakhov, a connection was obtained between the complete Radon-Kipriyanov transform with the Fourier transform and the mixed Fourier-Levitan-Kipriyanov-Katrakhov transform. An analogue of Helgason’s support theorem and an analogue of the Paley-Wiener theorem are presented.

Constructing a numerically statistical model of a homogeneous random field with the given distribution of the integral over one of the phase coordinates

Mikhailov G.A., Kablukova E.G., Ogorodnikov V.A., Prigarin S.M.

Abstract

The problem of constructing a numerically realizable model of a three-dimensional homogeneous random field in a “horizontal” layer 0 < z < H with given one-dimensional distribution and correlation function of the integral over “vertical” coordinate z is solved. An aggregate of n independent elementary horizontal layers of thickness h = H/n, vertically shifted by a random value uniformly distributed in the interval (0, h) is considered as a basic model.

Stability defect estimation for sets in a game approach problem in a fixed moment

Ushakov V.N., Malev A.G.

Abstract

We study the game problem of approaching a control system with a target set at a fixed point in time. The question of estimating from below the stability defect of a set in the position space weakly invariant with respect to a finite set of unification differential inclusions is discussed.

Mathematical scattering theory in quantum waveguides

Plamenevskii B.A., Poretskii A.S., Sarafanov O.V.

Abstract

A waveguide occupies a domain G with several cylindrical ends. The waveguide is described by a nonstationary equation of the form i∂t f = Af , where A is a selfadjoint second order elliptic operator with variable coefficients (in particular, for A = -Δ, where Δ stands for the Laplace operator, the equation coincides with the Schrodinger equation). For the corresponding stationary problem with spectral parameter, we define continuous spectrum eigenfunctions and a scattering matrix. The limiting absorption principle provides expansion in the continuous spectrum eigenfunctions. We also calculate wave operators and prove their completeness. Then we define a scattering operator and describe its connections with the scattering matrix.

The implementation of a given motion of a rigid body relative to its center of mass by moving the material point

Shmatkov A.M.

Abstract

In the absence of external forces for a mechanical system consisting of an interacting solid body and a material point, a law of movement of a point is constructed that realizes a given body motion in the Koenig coordinate system. Conditions found that this movement has to satisfy. The result can be used both to create capsule robots and to control spacecraft. An example of applying the obtained formula is given.

Abstract

A team of authors developed a technology for producing biocompatible biodegradable polymer films based on high-molecular polylactide with the properties necessary for medical and agricultural use. A technology has been developed for the inclusion of active substances (gentamicin sulfate, lincomycin hydrochloride, cefotaxime) into films of high-molecular polylactide. The rate of release of active substances from polylactide can vary with time as a decaying exponent, as well as a function close to linear. The process of release of active substances is significantly affected by the pH of the surrounding film of the solution. It was found that the dynamics of release of active substances from biocompatible biodegradable polymer films created on the basis of high-molecular polylactide depends on the properties of the substance immobilized in the film, the technology of the film and the conditions under which the extraction is carried out. The technical parameters of biocompatible biodegradable polymer films based on high-molecular polylactide are quite suitable for the manufacture of coatings of stents and prostheses with prolonged and controlled release of drugs into the surrounding tissues, as well as for use in agriculture to increase the safety of the harvest.

New data on the age of magmatic events in Oloy tectonic zone, West Chukotka area (evidences from zircon U-Pb dating)

Kara T.V., Tikhomirov P.L., Demin A.D.

Abstract

Zircons from volcanic and plutonic rocks of Nembonda volcanic field (the part of Anadyr segment of the Okhotsk-Chukotka volcanic belt) yield the following SHRIMP U-Pb ages, Ma: 147,7±2; 123,8±1,7; 119,3±1,7; 9,8±0,5; 80,55±0,96. These results confirm the hypothesis about the significant Aptian magmatic event in Verkhoyansk-Chukotka tectonic province, and give rise to the revision of the boundaries of the Okhotsk-Chukotka belt.

The final stage of the Acid Island Arc magmatism in the Northern Urals

Petrov G.A., Tristan N.I., Borozdina G.N., Maslov A.V.

Abstract

For the first time, the time of completion of the formation of calc-alkaline volcanic complexes of the Devonian Island Arc (Franian) in the Northern Urals was determined. It is shown that the late Devonian volcanic rocks of the Limka series have geochemical characteristics that bring them closer to the rocks of developed island arcs and active continental margins. The detected delay of the final episode of calc-alkaline volcanism in the Northern Urals in comparison with the similar event in the southern Urals may be due to the “oblique” nature of the subduction.

Oxygen isotope composition of zircons from the Talnakh economic intrusion of the Noril’sk province: first data

Badanina I.Y., Belousova E.A., Malitch K.N., Sluzhenikin S.F.

Abstract

This study presents the first results of oxygen isotope analyses (δ18O) collected on zircons from the Talnakh economic intrusion within the Noril’sk province. Zircons from gabbro-diorite, gabbroic rocks of the layered series and plagioclase-bearing wehrlite have similar mantle-like mean δ18O values (5,39 ± 0,49‰; 5,64 ± 0,48‰ and of 5,28 ± 0,34‰, respectively), which differ from δ18O in zircons from sulfide-bearing melanocratic troctolite with a taxitic texture in the lower part of the intrusion (mean δ18O = 6,50 ± 0,98‰). These new oxygen isotope data support (i) the mantle-derived origin of the primary magma(s), parental to the Talnakh intrusion, and (ii) possible involvement of a crustal component during the formation of sulfide-bearing taxitic-textured rocks.

Sulfides in the marbles of spurrite-merwinite facies: the Kochumdek River, East Siberia

Sokol E.V., Deviatiiarova A.S., Kokh S.N., Reverdatto V.V., Artemyev D.A., Kolobov V.Y.

Abstract

In the marbles of the Kochumdek contact metamorphic aureole pyrrhotite, rasvumite, sphalerite, alabandite, wurtzite, galena, acanthite have been identified. Mineralogical diversity of sulphides is the consequence of the efficient crystal-chemical fractionation of trace elements under the PT‑conditions of spurrite-merwinite metamorphic facies. Trace element and isotope fingerprints of sulfides indicate that sedimentary parent rocks were the main source of sulfur and metals for sulfides mineralization.

Abstract

The results of the spectral analysis of coordinate data obtained as a result of the permanent registration in the Geophysical Observatory “Mikhnevo” IDG RAS using a stationary GPS receiver. A detailed analysis of digital data series for a long period of time (observations are carried out from June 2014 to the present time) showed that the spectrum of variations of coordinate data is characterized by the presence of a significant number of quasi-harmonic components, among which there are fluctuations with periods close to the periods of tidal waves.

Asymmetrical heat flow distribution on the mid-oceanic ridges of the World Ocean

Khutorskoi M.D., Teveleva E.A.

Abstract

A statistical analysis of heat flow distribution along nine geotravers crossing the mid-oceanic ridges in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans is carried out. A significant asymmetry of heat flow distribution is established-its mean values differ on opposite sides of the ridges axis. In geotraverses of the southern Earth’s hemisphere, their western flank has a higher heat flow mean, and in the geotraverses of the northern hemisphere there is the eastern flank. Various tectonic factors that lead to such a distribution are taken into account, but the universal cause of this regularity is suggested to be the effect of the Coriolis force, which, when the planet rotates, redistributes the magmatic material amount in the asthenospheric reservoir.

New result on the history of the Azov Sea in the Holocene

Matishov G.G., Polshin V.V.

Abstract

The paper analyzes the results of integrated studies, obtained in the recent years, of bottom sediments and coastal transects in the Sea of Azov. The changes of natural conditions, taking place in its sea basin during the last 20 thousand years, are coordinated with the chronology of the World Ocean level fluctuations. The stages of the sea level increase, caused by the glacier shields’ melting, are considered. Due to the fact, it is noted that the change of the level of the World Ocean made a decisive impact on the formation of the Sea of Azov current water area conditions.

Applicability of international indicators of land degradation neutrality estimation for Russian boreal forests

Ptichnikov A.V., Karelin D.V., Kotlyakov V.M., Pautov Y.A., Borovlev A.Y., Kuznetsova D.A., Zamolodchikov D.G., Grabovsky V.I.

Abstract

In this paper, we analyze applicability of Land degradation neutrality (LDN) concept of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification for Russian boreal forests. In this regard, it is necessary to adapt the three global LDN indicators (land cover, land productivity, and carbon stocks) to the assessment of land degradation processes of boreal forests in Russia and around the world. The proposed study concludes that landscapes with different types of forest restoration dynamics can be viewed as the object in forest land dynamic studies. The proposed research also suggests the set of LDN indicators adapted for boreal forests conditions. In order to assess LDN proxies we calculated the retrospective and projected net carbon balance in the middle taiga zone of Noshulskoye forest domain (Komi Republic, Russia) using the CBM CFS model. Here we explored 3 scenarios of forest net carbon balance under the three different felling regimes. It was shown that the net carbon balance cannot be applied as an independent LDN indicator, since it does not take into account changes in species diversity and primary productivity. We also suggest that industrial felling should imitate natural types of restoration dynamics in order to achieve LDN targets. It can be reached through minimization of forest felling at sites with fireless types of succession, which accumulate maximum stocks of dead phytomass matter and serve as forest refuges supporting biodiversity.

Effects of gamma-radiation on DNA damage in onion (Allium cepa L.) seedlings

Bolsunovsky A.Y., Dementyev D.V., Frolova T.S., Trofimova E.A., Iniatkina E.M., Vasilyev S.A., Sinitsyna O.I.

Abstract

The effect of γ-radiation on the level of nuclear DNA damage in onion seedlings (Allium-test) was studied using the comet assay. DNA breaks were first found in cells of onion seedlings exposed to low-dose radiation (≤ 0,1 Gy). Dose dependence of DNA damage parameters showed nonlinear behavior: a linear section in the low-dose region (below 0,1 Gy) and a dose-independent plateau in the dose range between 1 and 5 Gy. Thus, the comet assay can be used to estimate the biological effects of low-dose gamma-radiation on Allium cepa seedlings.

Melatonin inhibits peroxide production in plant mitochondria

Butsanets P.A., Baik A.S., Shugaev A.G., Kuznetsov V.V.

Abstract

The effect of melatonin on respiration and production (release) of hydrogen peroxide during succinate oxidation in mitochondria isolated from lupine cotyledons and epicotyls of pea seedlings was studied. It has been shown for the first time that melatonin (10-7-10-3 M) had a significant inhibitory effect on the production of peroxide by plant mitochondria, which was characterized by concentration dependence and species specificity. At the same time, melatonin (at a concentration of up to 100 microns) had virtually no effect on mitochondrial respiration rate and respiratory control coefficient. The results confirm the antioxidant function of melatonin and indicate that it is involved in the regulation of ROS levels and maintenance of redox balance in plant mitochondria.

Removal of the translocation domain and the furin cleavage site decreases the relative hepatotoxicity of the targeted antitumor toxins

Khodarovich Y.M., Konovalova E.V., Schulga A.A., Deyev S.M., Petrov R.V.

Abstract

Targeted toxins are promising anticancer agents that allow selectively destroying cancer cells due to the increased content of onco-specific markers on their surface. The use of such anti-cancer toxins in medicine is mainly hampered by their high non-specific toxicity, in particular, hepatotoxicity. In our work on human cell line, we have shown that the removal of the DARPin-PE40 translocation toxin domain leads to a decrease in hepatoto-xicity. The same effect is also observed when inactivation of the furin cleavage site in the DARPin-PE40 molecule was done. Simultaneous removal of both the translocation domain and the furin cleavage site showed the best results. This toxin modification can be used to create more selective anti-cancer toxins.

The mating ritual and patterns of monopolar electrical pulses in Hong Kong catfish Clarias fuscus (Clariidae, Siluriformes)

Olshanskiy V.M.

Abstract

Laboratory experiments were performed to compare the electrical activity and behavior in Clarias fuscus during spawning. Each of the multiple matings of the male and female was preceded by an amplexus - a mutual pose in which the male tightly covers the female’s head and remains in close contact with it until the end of mating. The spawning behavior of C. fuscus was accompanied by monopolar electrical pulses (MP) of two types: single MPs, similar to those observed in other behavioral situations (aggression, hunting) and specific MPs, observed only during spawning bursts of serial MPs (burst MPs), at intervals which are comparable with their duration. Each recorded burst MPs (71) corresponded to one mating, and each recorded single MP (63) corresponded to an attack of one fish on another. In different behavioral situations (matings and attacks), MPs differ significantly in amplitude and duration; and for MPs in bursts, in their degree of asymmetry. It can be assumed that the involvement of MPs in the spawning behavior of C. fuscus is similar to that studied earlier in Clarias macrocephalus, and is a common feature for Clariidae.

Abstract

The effect of feed additive including antioxidant dihydroquercetin and polysaccharide arabinogalactan on the activity of metabolic enzymes in muscles and liver of artificially grown rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss Walb., affected by bacterial infection, was investigated. The results of the study indicated an increase in the resistance of trout to the action of bacterial infection with the enrichment of the diet with the studied bioactive components, including, apparently, through the activation of metabolic pathways of synthesis of energy and reducing equivalents.
