For lowering heavy metals levels and radionuclides in milk it is recommended to supplement cows feeds with agents possessing sorption, ionexchanging and biologically active characteristics. Aerosil and tetacincalcium have been tested in this connection. Milk received during experiments and osetinskii cheese and butter made from the milk satisfied technological and safety requirements. From the two adsorbents studied only aerosol is recommended.

Determination of water activity in milk powder

During testing of milk powder samples (GOST 10970-87) it was established that water activity was 0,295+0,027. At this meaning growth of bacteria, yeasts and moulds is stopped. The authors of the article advise to measure water activity in milk powder and products with intermediate moisture with aquameter.
