Altynnik N.A., Shatokha Y.V.

Abstract

А double aortic arch (DAA) was identified in 6 fetuses at 20-33 weeks of gestation. All fetuses with DAA during ultrasound examination revealed a vascular ring across three vessels and trachea. The trachea was located between the vessels. In 4 cases the diagnosis of DAA was made in the second trimester of gestation. All fetuses had normal intracardiac anatomy and 1 was associated with single umbilical artery. In 2 (33,3 %) cases the abnormal location of cross section of the thoracic aorta was revealed and anomalous values of the axis of the heart were reported only in 1 (16,7 %) of the 6 fetuses. Fetal DAA can be prenatally diagnosed during the second screening examination using the three-vessel and trachea view.

Trufanova L.P., Fokin V.P., Lukianova A.V., Boriskina L.N., Balalin S.V.

Abstract

One of the major causes inducing the onset and aggravation of myopia in schoolchildren is accommodation deficiency associated with ciliary muscle dysfunction. The obtained findings confirmed that functional treatment reliably increases the reserve of relative accommodation and makes possible to stabilize myopia in children in 96,5 % of cases. Due to a gradual decrease in the reserve allowance it is recommended to repeat treatments every 4-6 months 2-3 times a year.

IDENTIFYING PREFERENCES OF CONSUMERS OF OSTEOPOROSIS DRUGS IN THE VOLGOGRAD REGION

Galtsova E.G.

Abstract

We analyzed prescription drug therapies for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis in a total of 234 case records of osteoporosis in- and outpatients between 2010 and 2013. We interviewed 397 health care professionals employed in a variety of medical fields in Volgograd and in the Volgograd region to identify the degree of their awareness of prescription drug therapies for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Rheumatologists and endocrinologists appeared to be better informed about prescription drug therapies for the treatment of osteoporosis than any other health care professionals. Gynecologists appeared to be ill-informed. Most often therapeutists and traumatologists prescribe Alpha D3-teva, Miacalcic and calcium supplements to treat osteoporosis, although bisphosphonates are considered to be the first-line therapy for osteoporosis. Prescriptions made by rheumatologists and endocrinologists were consistent with clinical practice guidelines for the treatment of osteoporosis.

THE IMPACT OF INTRAUTERINE HYPOXIA ON MITOCHONDRIAL HETEROGENEITY WHICH IS CONTROLLED THROUGH ALTERATIONS IN RAT VENTRICULAR MYOCARDIUM

Ivanchenko M.V., Tverdokhleb I.V.

Abstract

The aim of the study is to measure the impact of fetal hypoxia on mitochondrial heterogeneity and to identify the ways of controlling heterogeneity in the process of ventricular cardiomyocyte mitochondrial formation. The analysis showed that heterogeneity of organelles causes a specific response to hypoxia. High-energy mitochondria seem to be the most sensitive to hypoxia, while low-energy mitochondria are likely to be less sensitive. The intensity of alterations and the severity of compensatory reactions of mitochondria to hypoxia vary through a series of stages of ontogenesis and are different in various parts of the ventricles.

Abstract

Fetal brain was retrospectively evaluated in 385 normal fetuses at 16-27 weeks of gestation. A multiplanar brain reconstruction mode was used to obtain the axial cerebral plane which passes through the cerebellum. All measurements were performed from the posterior aspect of the cerebellum to the inner surface of the occipital bone. The key research findings showed that the depth of the cisterna magna tends to increase during the second trimester and makes up 2.8 (range 2,1-4,3) mm at 16/0-16/6 weeks to 6.4 (range 4,4-8,4) mm at 26/0-26/6 weeks. The established percentile depth values for the fetal cisterna magna (mean, 5 th and 95 th percentile) can be used to assess normal fetal brain development while performing ultrasound in the second trimester of pregnancy
